Provincial Government supports Education Convergence
Jul 4, 2023

“Collaboration, friendship, and solidarity are embodied in this occasion much like our Sandugo celebration,” Supervising Administrative Officer Metodio “John” Maraguinot said during the Education Stakeholders Convergence Forum of the Department of Education (DepEd) Tagbilaran City Division on July 4, 2023, at Reyna’s Haven and Garden.

Maraguinot delivered the message of Governor Aris Aumentado expressing the full support of the Provincial Government to DepEd in attaining inclusive and quality education.

“Education is a pillar of the strategic agenda for inclusive growth,” the message said, challenging education partners to put forth their best efforts to shape the future of the province, especially with its recent designation as UNESCO Global Geopark.

He explained that this opens opportunities for the province and young people to be active partners and not just participants in the province’s development.

DepEd Tagbilaran Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Wilfreda Bongalos bared 2022 accomplishments and led the launching of the Division Education Development Plan 2023 that serves as a guide on the strategies, interventions and programs aligned with the directions of the National Government.

The plan outlines programs on relevant curriculum, infrastructure and digitalization, and support for students as well as for teachers.

The convergence gathered and recognized City Schools representatives; Teacher education institutes; Local Government Units; Alternative Learning System (ALS), Health as well as Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) and Technical Vocational Learning (TVL) partners, Division Office personnel, parents and private sector stakeholders.

Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap administered the oath of office of the Learner Government Officers and Teacher Advisers of Tagbilaran City Schools Division for SY 2023-2024. She also pledged the continued commitment of the City Government, allocating P87 million for its Special Education Fund for the improvement of schools, personnel augmentation, and allowance for teachers.

City Councilors Nick Besas and Jonas Cacho, Atty. Abeleon Damalerio representing Cong. Edgar Chatto and DepEd-7 Chief of the Policy Planning Research Division Atty. Benjamin Tiongzon were also present during the activity. (PIMO/LMS)
