DEPED PRESENTS BOHOLANO CULTURE AT SANDUGO BANTAWAN
Aug 22, 2024

Boholano educators, learners, and stakeholders joined forces in a night of celebrating the local culture during the Department of Education (DepEd) – Bohol Night at Bantawan.

Held last August 20, the old Tagbilaran City Airport tarmac was filled with cultural performances from the education sector from DepEd Bohol Division, with the event supported by the Provincial Government of Bohol.
Casiana Caberte, the Schools Division Superintendent, welcomed spectators in a message of support of the event under the theme, “Kulturang Bol-anon: Ipadayon nga Palambuon.”

This event is one of the education sector’s efforts to give importance to Bohol’s designation as the Philippines’ first UNESCO Global Geopark Regenerative Island Province with rich cultural, geological, and heritage significance.
Highlighting the night was the rondalla performance from the Guinness World Record’s Largest Rondalla Ensemble composed of learners, parents, teachers, and pioneering members of the Bohol Rondalla Ensemble.

Specifically, during the record, Bohol’s delegate consisted of 18 performers from Buenavista, Dimiao with 84, and Loboc with 78, which was supported by the Provincial Government of Bohol’s Special Education Fund through the Education Development Center, led by Metodio Maraguinot Jr.

It can be noted that the Capitol allocated ₱600,000 for the delegation, which was approved by the Provincial School Board, as supported by Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado as prioritized in his Strategic Change Agenda. Board Member Lucille Lagunay, Chairman of the Committee on Education, represented Gov. Aumentado at the event and delivered a message.

“Ang atong kalihukan karon maoy usa ka manipestasyon nga kitang tanan, nagkahiusa sa pag-amping sa atong kultura ug alampat nga maoy nahimong pundasyon sa atong pagka-Bol-anon,” Aumentado said.

The event also presented stopping performances, including ‘Bayle sa Kalye’ and folk dance from Cangawa National High School, ‘Sayaw sa Panggaw’ from Lourdes National High School, and ‘Bolinongkingking’ from the Loboc district schools.
There were vocal performances from Flint Nickleson Cagguisa of Dimiao Central Elementary School, a trio medley from Ann Marie, Maria Therry, and Mhel Marloue, and from National Festival of Talents 1st Runner-Up, Himig Bulilit from Loboc Central Elementary School.

John Paul and Ma. Therry Mhel also gave a ‘Balitaw’ performance, with chorale performances from Teachers Tubigon West Central Elementary School, Koru Handuraw of the Loboc District schools, and ‘Bayle sa Kalye’ from Camaya-an National High School.
The night ended with the finale from the performers and technical working committee members, along with the awarding of certificates of recognition, and a photo opportunity.

John Paul Tinampay voiced over the performances, while Mariel Jo Lomarda and Jerome Capuno were masters of ceremony.
Jaypee Morgia, officer in charge of Capitol’s Education Development Center, was also present during the event.
The DepEd Bohol Night is one of the highlights hosted at “Bantawan,” one of the major event streams of the bigger, bolder, and new Sandugo sa Bohol celebration.
