Department of Health (DOH) Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau (HPDPB) Director Frances Elgo-Mamaril was amazed at how Bohol has effectively anchored its health program on DOH Central policies.
Director Mamaril in particular cited among others the province’s crafting of Policies and Procedures for Primary Care Facilities, the Medical Scholarship Program, accreditation of all Rural Health Units (RHUs) in the Philhealth Konsulta Package with the province being an integration site of the Universal Health Care program.
Bohol’s best practices and challenges on health were presented by Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez in a courtesy call of DOH planning officers, chief of local health support division/Assistant Regional Directors (ARDs), research coordinator, strategic management focal persons from across the country’s 16 regions at the Ceremonial Hall of the Capitol on July 6, 2023.
Chief of Staff External Affairs Oscar Valles welcomed the DOH delegation on behalf of Governor Aris Aumentado, sharing the Provincial Government’s strategic change agenda that puts a premium on health. Valles emphasized the crucial role of planning in Aumentado’s efforts to strengthen health programs and to collaborate with partners such as the DOH in advancing public health. The DOH teams were in Bohol from July 3-7, 2023 for an important forum to reinforce the network among regions for planning and strategic management, facilitating efficient coordination and effective implementation of health programs.
