The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, conducted a two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training on June 3, 2026.
The activity was attended by 40 incoming second-year nursing students from Cristal-E College and was organized by TaRSIER 117 under the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), led by Dr. Anthony Damalerio.
The training forms part of the students’ preparatory requirements for Related Learning Experience (RLE) and aims to equip them with essential knowledge and skills in responding to medical emergencies.
Students are introduced to the fundamental principles and procedures of Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations, participants gain a deeper understanding of emergency response protocols, patient assessment, and the critical role of immediate intervention during life-threatening situations.
The program emphasizes the importance of prompt and appropriate action during respiratory and cardiac emergencies, particularly in situations where advanced medical assistance is not immediately available.
By developing essential competencies in emergency care, students are better prepared to provide initial lifesaving measures that can help sustain life, minimize complications, and improve patient outcomes.
Facilitating the training are Department of Health-certified instructors from TaRSIER 117 in collaboration with personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices of Baclayon and Dauis.
Serving as resource facilitators are Rey Palma, Rowena Burato, Fedil Joseph Doloritos, Prenzil Joshua Quiñal, Gabriellee Josephine Quiñal, and Emilyn Cirunay, who share their technical expertise and field experience in emergency response and disaster management.
The training will continue on June 4 with practical and hands-on sessions designed to reinforce the concepts discussed during the first day.
Participants will engage in guided skills demonstrations and simulation exercises, providing them with opportunities to apply lifesaving techniques in realistic emergency scenarios under the supervision of certified instructors.
By providing aspiring healthcare professionals with essential lifesaving competencies, the PGBh continues to strengthen local capacity for health emergency preparedness and disaster resilience.
The initiative underscores the importance of developing a skilled and responsive healthcare workforce that contributes to the safety and well-being of communities.
