Capitol Returns to Regular Five-Day Workweek
Jun 2, 2026

The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) has officially reverted to the regular five-day work week, lifting the implementation of the four-day work week through an Executive Order No. 24 signed by Governor Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado.

Under the order, all offices, departments, divisions, and units of the PGBh will resume the regular Monday-to-Friday work schedule effective June 1, 2026.

The executive order cited improved global energy conditions and the easing of fuel and energy cost pressures as among the reasons for discontinuing the four-day work arrangement.

In context, the arrangement was previously adopted as an energy-conservation and fuel-saving measure in response to rising global oil prices linked to tensions in the Middle East.

The PGBh’s return to the regular work week is expected to improve accessibility to government services, strengthen coordination among offices, expedite transaction processing, and enhance responsiveness to the needs of Boholanos across the province, a UNESCO Global Geopark.

Furthermore, the order also revokes previous issuances authorizing the four-day work week and directs department heads and office supervisors to ensure a smooth transition while maintaining continuous and efficient public service delivery, a priority underscored by PGBh’s Strategic Change Agenda.

The Provincial Human Resource Management and Development Office (PHRMDO) has been tasked to monitor compliance and implementation. (PIMO/JSS)
