Officials also emphasized the importance of stronger coordination between the Maritime Police and local police units to ensure effective law enforcement and the protection of Bohol’s marine resources.
Executive Assistant Pinat reiterated the need to strengthen coastal security measures and increase maritime police visibility in coastal communities to help prevent illegal activities and safeguard the province’s marine assets.
RMU-7 reported that it currently has a manpower complement of 27 personnel.
The delegation also noted that the establishment of operational stations in both Tagbilaran City and Ubay enhances monitoring capabilities and enables more efficient maritime law enforcement throughout the province.
Governor Aumentado affirmed the Provincial Government of Bohol’s (PGBh) full support for the initiatives and operations of the Regional Maritime Unit 7, recognizing the vital role of maritime law enforcement in protecting the province’s coastal communities, marine resources, and fishing industry.
He likewise expressed confidence that strengthened collaboration between the provincial government, local police units, and maritime authorities will further advance efforts to preserve peace and order in Bohol’s waters, a priority underscored with PGBh’s Strategic Change Agenda.
The courtesy visit underscored the shared commitment of the PGBh and the RMU 7 to protect Bohol’s waters, preserve marine biodiversity, and support the livelihood of law-abiding fisherfolk through strengthened maritime governance and enforcement. (PIMO/RJG)
