The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), led by Governor Aris Aumentado, hosted the successful staging of the 10th World Natural Bodybuilding Federation (WNBF) PHX 2026 on May 30, 2026, at the Bohol Cultural Center—the first time the international bodybuilding competition has been held in the province.
The event was made possible by a partnership between the WNBF and the PGBh through the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO), further strengthening the province’s sports development and sports tourism initiatives.
The international competition attracted participants from 15 countries, including Switzerland, Egypt, Japan, Singapore, and other nations, highlighting Bohol’s growing reputation as a venue for world-class sporting events.
Of the 86 athletes who competed across various divisions, nearly 40 percent were Boholanos, showcasing local talent alongside international contenders.
The two-day event officially commenced on May 29 with athlete registration and check-in, first-coat tanning sessions, and a competitors’ orientation.
Competition day on May 30 featured multiple categories, including Physique, Bodybuilding, Classic Physique, Figure, and Bikini divisions, with athletes competing in various classes such as Grand Master, Master, Junior, Teen, First Timer, Novice, Open, and Overall Championship rounds.
Governor Aumentado noted that hosting international sporting events contributes significantly to the growth of sports tourism while creating economic opportunities for local communities, businesses, and tourism stakeholders.
“Dako kini og kontribusyon sa pagpalig-on sa sports tourism sa atong probinsya nga dako usab og epekto sa atong komunidad ilabi na sa atong ekonomiya,” Gov. Aumentado said.
The successful conduct of WNBF PHX 2026 reflects the PGBh’s continuing commitment to youth development, sports excellence, and sustainable tourism under its Strategic Governance Roadmap.
It also reinforces Bohol’s position as a premier destination for international events and competitions as the country’s first and only UNESCO Global Geopark and a Regenerative Island.
