The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), through the Bohol Center for Culture and Arts Development (BCCAD) and the Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage (BACH) Council Fashion Design Committee, celebrated Bohol Grand Santacruzan 2026 on May 30 at Plaza Rizal in Tagbilaran City as part of the province-wide observance of National Heritage Month.
The cultural fashion spectacle brought together faith, tradition, and artistic expression, reimagining the timeless Flores de Mayo tradition through the creativity and craftsmanship of Boholano artists and designers, including stylists, artisans, and cultural workers whose creations reflected the richness and evolving beauty of Filipino heritage.
A total of 33 Reynas and their escorts participated in the grand procession, wearing couture ensembles inspired by biblical figures, Marian titles, and Filipino heritage. Through elaborate arches, visual storytelling, and performance art, the event transformed the traditional Santacruzan into a vibrant showcase of culture, fashion, and devotion.
“This is a good idea for our youth, especially for our Sagalas and escorts. It is deeply rooted in our religious faith,” said BACH Chairperson of the Fashion Design Committee, Shanon Pamaong, during his opening message, emphasizing the importance of tracing back the Filipino tradition amidst the fast-changing modern world.
Supervising Administrative Officer Metodio Maraguinot Jr. delivered the message of Gov. Aris Aumentado and gave tribute to the dedication of our artists, designers, performers, organizers, and communities
“Through their hard work, we endeavor to inspire everyone, especially our youth, to value our heritage, embrace creativity, and continue protecting and preserving the rich cultural legacy that makes Bohol truly unique,” said Aumentado.
Jaime V. Antonio Jr., Philippine Development Specialist for Culture and Arts of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and BCCAD head Emerson Pinos were also present at the event.
Prior to the main event, the participants conducted an official photoshoot at Bellemar Panglao, highlighting the elegance of the costumes and the cultural significance of the celebration.
Aligned with the Provincial Government’s Strategic Governance Roadmap, the initiative reinforced efforts to preserve cultural heritage, support creative industries, and inspire future generations to value Bohol’s identity as the country’s first and only UNESCO Global Geopark and a thriving center of artistic and cultural excellence.
