GOV. AUMENTADO COMMITS ₱5-MILLION SUPPORT FOR NEW PANGLAO MUNICIPAL HALL
May 28, 2026

Governor Aris Aumentado reaffirmed the Provincial Government of Bohol’s (PGBh) commitment to supporting local infrastructure development as he pledged an additional ₱5 million for the construction of the new Panglao Municipal Hall during its groundbreaking ceremony on May 28, 2026, in Barangay Tawala, Panglao.

Representing the Governor during the event, Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Handel Lagunay announced the provincial government’s financial support for the landmark project, which is expected to enhance public service delivery and accommodate the growing needs of Panglao’s residents and visitors.

“Congratulations sa LGU Panglao sa pagatukoron nga bag-ong Municipal Hall sa ilang lungsod. Isip suporta, mi-commit kita sa Kagamhanang Probinsyal nga mohatag og dugang P5 million para sa dugang kalamboan sa ilang munisipalidad,” Gov. Aumentado wrote on his Facebook post.
The new four-story municipal building, estimated to cost ₱500 million, will rise on a two-hectare property located 81 meters away from the main highway to promote smoother traffic flow and public safety.

Designed by Architect Mario Mejos, who previously worked with renowned urban planner Architect Jun Palafox, the structure draws inspiration from a “modern boat” concept and incorporates sustainable design features.

The eco-friendly building will be solar-powered and equipped with a rainwater collection system that will allow harvested rainwater to be reused for toilets and other non-potable purposes.
It will also feature natural ventilation and an interior solarium designed to maximize daylight and reduce energy consumption.

Mayor Edgardo “Boy” Arcay said the project reflects Panglao’s vision for a modern and future-ready local government center. He also disclosed plans to acquire go-carts to assist senior citizens in accessing municipal services within the expansive compound.

The municipal complex will likewise allocate a 1,000-square-meter area for a new Philippine National Police building, further strengthening public safety services in the municipality.
Aligning with the PGBh’s Strategic Governance Roadmap, the project supports broader efforts to promote sustainable, resilient, and people-centered development in Bohol, a UNESCO Global Geopark. (PIMO/JSS)
