The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) continued the distribution of rice assistance on May 30, 2026, at the Capitol lobby.
The distribution targeted 705 families from Tagbilaran City who were unable to claim their allocation during the initial rollout on May 19, 2026, held at the Bohol Cultural Center.
The activity formed part of the implementation of the Rice Subsidy Program funded by the national government, led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., through the Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU), with a P196 million allocation for Bohol.
The national program aimed at strengthening food security and providing relief to vulnerable sectors affected by rising daily living expenses.
The continuation ensured that all qualified beneficiaries from Tagbilaran City received their allotted 10 kilograms of rice, reinforcing the government’s commitment to equitable and inclusive service delivery.
Among the priority recipients are those identified in the 25% indigent sector, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), fisherfolk, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, solo parents, transport workers, laborers, carpenters, and other identified families in need.
The distribution was facilitated through the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWD), in coordination with the City Government of Tagbilaran and barangay officials, ensuring an orderly and efficient release of assistance.
To extend the program’s reach, the provincial government also allocated a P11-million counterpart fund to hit the target number of beneficiaries.
The distribution is the first of four tranches, totaling 40 kilos for each beneficiary for this program.
Aligned with the PGBh’s Strategic Governance Roadmap, the initiative highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen social protection, food security, and responsive public service for Boholano families, contributing to more resilient and inclusive communities across the Bohol Island Geopark.
