The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), led by Governor Aris Aumentado through the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO), continues to advance its environmental sustainability agenda by recognizing outstanding Local Government Units (LGUs) and barangays for their exemplary performance in Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM).
During an awarding ceremony held on May 18, 2026, at the Governor’s Office, the PGBh formally honored the Top 10 Best Performing LGUs in ESWM for 2024–2025, alongside barangay awardees who demonstrated outstanding innovation and commitment to proper waste management practices.
Governor Aumentado, together with BPEMO Head Jovencia Ganub, along with Atty. Jeffrey Escaso and Leonilo Lafuente led the recognition of LGUs and barangays whose sustained initiatives have contributed to cleaner communities and improved environmental governance across the province.
Balilihan was named the 1st Best Performing LGU in ESWM, receiving P300,000 for its consistent implementation of effective waste segregation, disposal, and environmental management programs.
Other LGUs recognized for their strong ESWM best practices include Dauis with P275,000, Clarin with P250,000, Trinidad with P225,000, Loay with P200,000, Jagna with P175,000, Sikatuna with P160,000, Cortes with P140,000, Pilar with P120,000, and San Miguel with P100,000. These municipalities were acknowledged for their continued efforts in promoting sustainable solid waste management systems and environmental compliance.
At the barangay level, several communities were also recognized for their outstanding contributions and received P15,000 each as an incentive. Barangay Rosario in Cortes was awarded for its Outstanding ESWM Committee, while Barangay Cogon in Balilihan was cited for Best Documentation in Solid Waste Management. Barangay San Vicente in Trinidad was recognized for Best Composting Practices, and Barangay Bitaugan in Antequera for Excellence in Solid Waste Recycling.
Barangay Tangohay in Dimiao was awarded for Best Managed Material Recovery Facility, while Barangay Yanangan in Loay was recognized for Outstanding ESWM Committee performance. Barangay Tapon in Ubay was cited as the Cleanest Coastal-Urban Barangay, Barangay Limocon Ilaud in Dimiao for the Best Information and Education Campaign, and Barangay Nueva Esperanza in Bien Unido for effective Garbage and Garbage Fee Collection implementation.
Anchored with the PGBh’s Strategic Governance Roadmap, the incentive program underscores the PGBh’s continuing commitment to environmental protection, sustainable waste management, and community participation.
