BEPO-PESO Advances Youth Career Readiness at Tagum Sur NHS
Feb 10, 2026

In the pursuit of strengthening youth empowerment and workforce readiness, Bohol, the Philippines’ first and only UNESCO Global Geopark, continues to advance initiatives that promote education and career development.

This was after the Provincial Government of Bohol, led by Governor Aris Aumentado, through the Bohol Employment and Placement Office – Public Employment Service Office (BEPO-PESO), participated in the Career Day 2026 of Tagum Sur National High School held on February 4, 2026, at the school’s Activity Center.

The activity gathered 247 Grade 10 and Grade 12 students for a meaningful day of learning, reflection, and inspiration anchored on the theme “Crafting Dreams, Creating Equal Futures.”

The Career Day aimed to provide students with valuable insights into career planning, education pathways, and employment opportunities as they prepare for important academic and life decisions. It also served as a platform to strengthen collaboration between the education sector and government institutions in guiding young learners toward informed and purposeful career choices.

Highlighting the program was the keynote address delivered by Maria Vilma Yorong, Provincial PESO Manager and Career and Training Employment Coordinator (CTEC). In her message, Yorong emphasized the importance of purposeful career planning, resilience, and inclusivity in shaping the future of the youth.

She encouraged students to pursue their aspirations with confidence while remaining mindful of their responsibility in building communities that promote equal opportunities and social progress.

Drawing from practical experiences and professional insights, Yorong underscored the vital role of education, continuous skills development, and strong values formation in transforming personal dreams into meaningful contributions to society.

She reminded students that career success is not only defined by professional achievement but also by one’s commitment to service, integrity, and lifelong learning.

Students actively engaged in the discussions, gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of aligning personal interests, skills, and values with career choices. The activity also provided an opportunity for learners to reflect on their future goals and explore various career pathways available to them after completing their secondary education.

The successful conduct of Career Day 2026 reflects Tagum Sur National High School’s continued commitment to fostering partnerships that support student development and career readiness.

The activity likewise supports the Strategic Change Agenda of the Provincial Government of Bohol, particularly its focus on human capital development, inclusive growth, and youth empowerment.

This also reinforces the province’s vision of developing a skilled, values-driven, and future-ready Boholano workforce prepared to contribute to sustainable and equitable development. (𝐏𝐈𝐌𝐎/𝐌𝐅𝐌)
