Provincial Statistics Committee Holds First Quarter Meeting
Jan 23, 2026

The Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) conducted its First Quarter Meeting on January 23 at the Juanito Cambangay Hall, Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) of the New Provincial Capitol.

The meeting was presided over by PPDO Head Atty. John Titus Vistal, with the participation of partner agencies and provincial offices. Discussions focused on strengthening data-driven governance, information sharing, and the implementation of key social development programs.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and BALPI presented updates on the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), highlighting its importance in providing localized data to support planning, policy formulation, and targeted interventions at the community level.

Key highlights of the meeting included the discussion on the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) led by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and BALPI. CBMS serves as a vital mechanism for collecting disaggregated, community-level data that enable local government units to identify priority needs, design targeted interventions, and monitor development outcomes effectively.

Representing the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – SWAD Bohol, Donald Prince Dahiroc presented the Social Welfare and Development Indicator (SWDI), an essential assessment tool used to evaluate the well-being of households, particularly beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

The SWDI categorizes families into survival, subsistence, and self-sufficiency levels by measuring economic sufficiency and social adequacy. This enables government agencies to accurately identify household needs and deliver appropriate and responsive social protection programs.

The Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWD), represented by Caezarina Mae Cagampang, presented its programs, services, and facilities, including Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), disaster relief services, psychosocial support services, the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP), programs for former rebels and Indigenous Peoples, community outreach services, and social development activities for various sectors. The presentation also covered facilities such as the Bohol Crisis Intervention Center (BCIC), Stimulation and Therapeutic Activity Center (STAC), Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), Bohol Senior Citizens Center, Bohol Youth Home, and programs for solo parents.

The Bohol Senior Citizens Center presented its 2025 accomplishments, reporting the recognition of 35 Boholano centenarians through cash gifts, plaques of recognition, and resolutions of felicitation. More than ₱4.8 million was utilized for senior citizen programs and activities, with over 720 participants engaged in major events and trainings. These initiatives are anchored in Provincial Ordinance No. 2022-003, which grants qualified centenarians a ₱100,000 cash gift, a plaque of recognition, and a resolution from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

From January 2021 to December 2025, a total of 198 centenarians were honored across the province. Capacity-building activities in 2025 included geriatric care and management training, digital literacy programs for senior citizen leaders in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and the Provincial Senior Citizens Congress 2025, which gathered 625 participants at the Bohol Cultural Center.

Bohol currently has 197,985 registered senior citizens, with the highest number recorded in the First District.

The meeting also featured the presentation of the 36th Civil Registration Month (CRM) proposed activities for February 2026, alongside the 2026 National ID Registration Operations Schedule and an audio-visual presentation of PSA-Bohol’s 2025 accomplishments, presented by Fiel Rose D. Tac-an, Statistical Analyst.

Celebrated every February pursuant to Proclamation No. 682, Civil Registration Month underscores the importance of registering vital events such as births, marriages, and deaths, as well as legal instruments affecting civil status.

The First Quarter PSC Meeting reaffirms Bohol as the Philippines’ first and only UNESCO Global Geopark and Regenerative Island—a commitment to data-driven governance, strengthened inter-agency coordination, and inclusive development planning.

This is made possible in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bohol under the leadership of Governor Aris Aumentado, ensuring that programs and policies remain responsive to the needs of Boholanos across all sectors as envisioned in the Strategic Governance Roadmap.(PIMO/RJG)
