Taking cue from a successful hosting of the 10th ASEAN and the Hong Kong Free Trade Agreemen (AHKFTA) Trade Negotiating Committee and Related Meetings last April, Bohol will host again another meeting; this time the 34th ASEAN Marine Transport Working Group (MTWG) Meeting.
The meeting will be on September 19-21 at Hennan Resort, Alona Beach, Panglao.
Originally scheduled for only one meeting, Director-General for Operations of the ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Council Marciano Paynor Jr hinted during the April Meeting culmination program, that Bohol will host about one or two more meetings this year.
Paynor cited on the successful hosting, coordination and leadership of Gov. Edgar Chatto that prompted the organizing council to have another meetings here.
Chatto expressed gratitude to Paynor for announcement and challenge, and once again called on the Boholanos for cooperation and showcase the best of Boholano hospitality.
About 200 delegates are expected to attend the meeting from the 10 member countries of ASEAN.
Based on the report, the meeting highlights on the master plan and feasibility study on the establishment of an ASEAN Ro-Ro shipping network and short sea shipping, maritime / logistics education training landscape in ASEAN member states, roadmap towards an integrated and cooperative transport, among others.
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade is expected to welcome the delegates on the opening day, together with Gov. Edgar Chatto.
