On National Hold Hands Day, August 9, 2017, National Voluntary Blood Services Program held its annual partners’ forum at the Bohol Tropics Resort.
National Program Manager Marites Estrella said the gathering is fitting as blood donation should be social responsibility as she congratulated local government and community involvement of Bohol.
According to Estrella, a total of 6,945 units of blood was collected in Bohol in 2016.
Gov. Edgar Chatto, himself receiving appreciation for outstanding support to National Voluntary Blood Services Program, welcomed and congratulated LGU and stakeholder partners recognized during National Voluntary Blood Services Program Annual Partners’ Forum and Awarding Ceremony.
The governor reiterated commitment to continue to support the program in order to achieve health goals for the province.
LGUs and community stakeholders were awarded appreciation and recognition for outstanding achievement in blood donation and support for the National Voluntary Blood Services Program for 2016.
LGU Candijay earned the Silver Citation Award, Single Largest Mobile Donation Award, and 2016 Rajah Sikatuna Excellence in Blood Collection Award.
Given the Bronze Citation Award were LGUs Balilihan, Panglao, Albur, Danao, San Miguel, Batuan, Catigbian, Tagbilaran City, Cortes, and Sierra Bullones.
Blood Program Champion Award was conferred to LGUs Balilihan, Lila, Maribojoc, Sagbayan, and San Miguel.
Best in Blood Donor Retention was LGU Baclayon.
Barangay Excellence Award was presented to San Agustin-Albur; Quinapo-an and Santo Rosario-Antequera; Boyog Proper, Del Rosario, Hanopol Norte, Hanopol Weste, Tagustusan-Balilihan; Cabacnitan, Quirino-Batuan; Bato, Buenavista; Canguha, Calape; Cambane, Mahangin, Pagahat-Candijay; Bongbong-Catigbian; Datag-Dimiao; Poblacion-Getafe; Tabunok-Guindulman; Catam-is Bag-o, Genomoan-Loon; Toril-Maribojoc; Mantalongon-Sagbayan; Baryong Daan-San Isidro; San Vicente-San Miguel ; Guinob-an-Sevilla ; Dusita-Sierra Bullones; and Danao-Valencia.
The program also recognized support in mobile voluntary blood donations of LGUs Albur, Alicia, Anda, Antequera, Baclayon, Balilihan, Batuan, Bilar, Buenavista, Calape, Candijay, Carmen, Catigbian, Clarin, Corella, Cortes, Danao, Dauis, Dimiao, Duero, Garcia Hernandez, Getafe, Guindulman, Inabanga, Jagna, Lila, Loboc, Loon, Mabini, Maribojoc, Panglao, Pilar, Pres. Carlos P Garcia, Sagbayan, San Isidro, San Miguel, Sevilla, Sierra Bullones, Sikatuna, Tagbilaran City, Talibon, Trinidad, Tubigon, Ubay, Valencia, Minol-Mabini, Poblacion 3-Tagbilaran City, Poblacion 2-Tagbilaran City, and Booy-Tagbilaran City.
For Community Category, BISU-Main Campus and Canidjay Campus bagged Gold Citation Award. BISU-Main Campus also received Single Largest Mobile Blood Donation Award and Rajah Sikatuna Excellence in Blood Collection Award.
Silver Citation was awarded to Hennan Resort Alona Beach, Member Church of God International, Holy Name University, and BISU-Clarin Campus.
Bronze Citation was awarded to DENR-PENRO Bohol, Iglesia ni Cristo, 47th Infantry Battalion, BOHECO I, Don Emilio Del Valle Hospital, EEI Corporation, Bohol Provincial Police Office, and South Palms Resort.
Department of Health Asst. Reg. Dir. Ruben Siapno closed the program with a quote about generosity “Your hands can receive when they are open to give.” as he congratulated Bohol and encouraged everyone to continue to volunteer to give blood.
The National Voluntary Blood Services Program was established through Republic Act 7719 to ensure adequate supply of safe blood for the needy especially in times of emergencies. The rewards program also serves as venue to intensify advocacy for adequate safe blood which campaign bears the tagline: Give Blood. Give Now. Give Often. (LM/EDCOM)
